Welcome to The Maryland Christian Youth Band and Orchestra!
The MCYBO is dedicated to providing young musicians the best opportunity to participate in performing ensembles and small group classes in a Christian environment. Begun as the CBA Band and Orchestra in 2002, our organization has over a decade of experience teaching musicians from the homeschool community. We now have musicians from every school environment participating in our ensembles. Our directors have many years of teaching and conducting experience in public and private schools as well as community organizations.
We invite you to look over our website and see how we are able to meet the needs of your student musician whether he or she is a novice beginner or experienced performer. We welcome students from all backgrounds who wish to participate in a fun, challenging, and nurturing musical experience.

Fall Semester Update
In response to the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic, MCYBO will be conducting all instruction online this semester. Beginning the second week in September, students will meet via Zoom in 30 minute semi-private instrument classes of 1 to 3 students for instruction in instrument technique, sight reading, solo and ensemble literature, and music theory. Additional instruction will be available for Beginning Band and Beginning Strings along with Windstars and Ukulele.
Our program will combine live online instruction with video resources and online curriculum that will keep students engaged with learning throughout the week. Students will be taught according to their ability level predetermined by their instructor.
The tuition for this 12 week Fall Semester will be $175 per student. Registration will open on Wednesday, August 19th, 2020. It will close on September 9th. There may be limited space available so early registration is recommended.
WINTER WEATHER POLICY
MCYBO follows the Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) cancellation policy for winter weather emergencies.
- If MCPS cancels school due to winter weather, MCYBO cancels classes for that day as well.
- If MCPS has an early dismissal due to a winter weather emergency, MCYBO cancels classes.
- If MCPS has a delayed opening, MCYBO holds classes as scheduled.
Members will also receive an email on the morning in question to notify them of any cancellations or to confirm that classes will be held.
